Maggie began stitching and knitting as a child and further developed her skills at school and teacher training college, with a particular interest in ceramics, graphic design and watercolours.
Following retirement Maggie studied Creative textiles and Embroidery with City and Guilds, winning an award from the Worshipful Guild of Broderers and a student showcase at the NEC.
Currently Maggie’s work takes inspiration mainly from her sketchbooks and photos, recording places visited on her travels and using fabrics dyed with rust, tea and indigo, incorporating shibori type techniques.
Responding to the organic nature of the dyed fabric using fabric manipulation, hand and machine stitch is all part of the excitement and challenge of working in textiles today.
